این سه پرونده را کنار هم در یک پوشه بگذارید: [manifest.json](/manifest/manifest.json)، `manifest.json.minisig`، `irantalk.pub`. امضا را بررسی کنید: ``` minisign -Vm manifest.json -p irantalk.pub ``` باید بنویسد `Signature and comment signature verified` و در خط بعد `IranTalk manifest v` و یک شماره. 4. ===== en: LilyGO T-Deck Plus ===== # LilyGO T-Deck Plus By the end of this page you have a T-Deck Plus running Ratspeak that sends messages by radio, without internet. No internet Before anything else, read [Before you switch on a radio](/safety). This device is physical evidence, and radio transmissions can be located. ## 1. Buy 1. A LilyGO T-Deck Plus, with keyboard, screen and LoRa radio. 2. Frequency: the 868 or 433 MHz version, whichever the others in your group have. Every device in a group must use the same frequency and radio preset. Know your local law. 3. A better antenna than the one in the box, with an SMA connector. **Never switch the device on without an antenna.** Transmitting without one can damage the radio. ## 2. Install the firmware Ratspeak Handheld works on its own (Standalone) or as the radio for a phone (RNode). 1. On a computer with Chrome or Edge, open Ratspeak's download page: ratspeak.org/download.html 2. Choose the T-Deck Plus and press "Flash in browser". 3. Connect the device by USB. If it is not found: switch it off, hold the trackball, switch it on, then connect USB. ## 3. First start 1. Choose Standalone mode. 2. The device creates a Reticulum identity and asks for a display name. **Do not use your real name.** 3. The default radio preset is Medium Fast. If your group uses another preset, use that one. ## 4. First message 1. On the home screen, announce yourself. 2. In Peers, choose someone and open a chat. 3. Type and press Enter. A message is yellow while in transit and turns green once delivered. ## 5. When there is internet In Settings, Propagation, AUTO mode connects the device to Wi-Fi/TCP nodes so messages can leave the mesh. The addresses are on [Ways to connect](/connect). ===== en: LilyGO T-Lora Pager ===== # LilyGO T-Lora Pager By the end of this page you have a T-Lora Pager that sends messages by radio, without internet: with Ratspeak Handheld as a standalone Reticulum node, or with Meshtastic. No internet Before anything else, read [Before you switch on a radio](/safety). This device is physical evidence, and radio transmissions can be located. The T-Lora Pager is the same family as the [T-Deck Plus](/devices/t-deck-plus), in the shape of a pager: smaller and lighter, with a landscape screen, a keyboard and a small wheel for navigation instead of a trackball. It takes the same two firmwares. ## 1. Buy 1. A LilyGO T-Lora Pager, with LoRa radio, keyboard and screen. 2. Frequency: the 868 or 433 MHz version, whichever the others in your group have. Every device in a group must use the same frequency and radio preset. Know your local law. 3. The antenna in the box works; a better one with an SMA connector extends the range. **Never switch the device on without an antenna.** ## 2. Install the firmware Two choices, each its own world: - **Ratspeak Handheld**: the Reticulum messenger, with the Offline Inbox and the same addresses as this site. On a computer with Chrome or Edge, open Ratspeak's download page (ratspeak.org/download.html); if the T-Lora Pager is in the device list, choose it and press "Flash in browser". If it is not listed, it is not supported yet; use Meshtastic. - **Meshtastic**: the neighbourhood mesh, guide: [Meshtastic](/apps/meshtastic). The Meshtastic web flasher knows the device as T-Lora Pager. Connect the device by USB. If it is not found: switch it off, hold the BOOT button, switch it on, then connect USB. ## 3. First start (Ratspeak) 1. Choose Standalone mode. 2. The device creates a Reticulum identity and asks for a display name. **Do not use your real name.** 3. The default radio preset is Medium Fast. If your group uses another preset, use that one. 4. Scroll with the wheel and press it to select. ## 4. First message 1. On the home screen, announce yourself. 2. In Peers, choose someone and open a chat. 3. Type and send. A message is yellow while in transit and turns green once delivered. ## 5. When there is internet In Settings, Propagation, AUTO mode connects the device to nodes over Wi-Fi so messages can leave the mesh and wait in our Offline Inbox. The addresses are on [Ways to connect](/connect). ===== en: A radio for your phone: Heltec V3 and T-Beam ===== # A radio for your phone: Heltec V3 and T-Beam By the end of this page you have a cheap LoRa board running the RNode firmware, paired to your phone over Bluetooth or USB, and Ratspeak or Sideband on the phone sends messages without internet. No internet Before anything else, read [Before you switch on a radio](/safety). This board is physical evidence and its transmissions can be located. **Never transmit without an antenna attached.** The cheapest way into Tier 0: the phone you already have, plus a board costing a few dollars. The RNode firmware turns the board into a Reticulum radio; the phone does the thinking and the board only sends and receives. ## 1. Buy | Board | Why | |---|---| | Heltec WiFi LoRa 32 V3 | small, cheap, with a tiny display; needs a separate battery (or USB power) | | LilyGO T-Beam | an 18650 battery holder and GPS; for a phone, or as the radio of a [gateway](/operators/gateway) | 1. Frequency: 868 or 433 MHz, whichever your group has. Every device in a group must use the same frequency and radio settings. 2. An antenna for that frequency, with an SMA connector. The spring antenna in the box is enough to start. ## 2. Install the RNode firmware On a computer (Windows, macOS or Linux) with Python 3: 1. Install the Reticulum tools: `pipx install rns` (or `pip install rns` in a virtual environment). The package brings `rnodeconf`. It is in the offline pack too. 2. Connect the board by USB and run the automatic install: ``` rnodeconf --autoinstall ``` Choose the board from the list; the firmware is downloaded, installed and provisioned. The last message should say the board is ready. 3. Read any other switch from `rnodeconf --help` of the version you installed, not from memory and not from an AI. ## 3. Bluetooth 1. Switch the board's Bluetooth on with `rnodeconf` and put it in pairing mode (the switches are in `--help`). On the Heltec the pairing code appears on the display. 2. In the phone's Bluetooth settings, pair the board. 3. If Bluetooth will not work, a USB OTG cable does the same job. ## 4. In the messenger - **Sideband**: Connectivity, "Connect via RNode", choose the paired board. Set the frequency, bandwidth, power, spreading factor and coding rate to what your group uses; every radio in a group must match. Guide: [Sideband](/apps/sideband). - **Ratspeak**: in Settings, a new connection of type RNode, over Bluetooth or USB, with the same radio settings. Guide: [Ratspeak](/apps/ratspeak). ## 5. First message 1. Announce. 2. Add another person with a radio in range from their announce. 3. Write and send. If nothing arrives: are the frequency and radio settings the same on both sides? Is the antenna attached? Too far? Put the antenna higher; height gives more range than power. With internet, the same phone and the same app also connect to [our node](/connect), and messages sent on the mesh can leave through the Offline Inbox. Two worlds, one app. ===== en: Meshtastic: a neighbourhood mesh ===== # Meshtastic: a neighbourhood mesh By the end of this page your phone is connected to a Meshtastic radio on the right frequency, in a private channel for your family or neighbourhood, and you know where the IranTalk public channel and its internet bridge are announced. No internet Before anything else, read [Before you switch on a radio](/safety). A radio is physical evidence and its transmissions can be located. Meshtastic has the largest LoRa user base and the cheapest way in: a board costing a few dollars and a phone. Short messages hop from radio to radio until they reach their destination. The same boards ([T-Deck Plus](/devices/t-deck-plus), [T-Lora Pager](/devices/t-lora-pager), Heltec V3, T-Beam) can run [Ratspeak or RNode](/devices/companion-radio) instead; we document both and you choose. ## 1. Install the firmware 1. On a computer with Chrome or Edge, open the Meshtastic web flasher: flasher.meshtastic.org. The offline pack carries the firmware release we checked. 2. Choose your board from the list, connect it by USB and install. 3. Install the Meshtastic app on the phone (Android or iPhone). The Android file is in the offline pack too. ## 2. Frequency and first settings 1. In the app, connect to the board over Bluetooth (the pairing code is shown on the board's screen; boards without a screen want 123456). 2. Set the Region. Meshtastic has no preset for Iran: EU_868 for an 868 MHz board, EU_433 for a 433 MHz one. Every board in a group must have the same region and the same modem preset; the default is Long Fast. 3. Give the device a long and a short name that are not your name. Switch position sharing off unless you want it on purpose. **Never switch the board on without an antenna.** ## 3. A private channel The default primary channel is public and anyone in range can read it. For a family or neighbourhood: 1. Channels, new channel: a short name and a random key. 2. Share the channel's QR code with exactly the people who should be in it, in person. Whoever scans it is in the channel. 3. Keep the default public channel so any other radio in range still forwards your messages. ## 4. The IranTalk channel and the internet bridge We publish a channel with an announced name and key so boards set up from this guide find each other, and an MQTT bridge that joins scattered meshes whenever there is any internet. The channel name, the key and the bridge address come only from the signed list; once published, the "Meshtastic MQTT" row appears on [Ways to connect](/connect). Until then, use the private channel. When the row is there: Settings, MQTT, the address and user from the list; then on the IranTalk channel switch on "uplink" and "downlink". The public channel's key is published on purpose: it is for finding each other, not for secrecy. Say private things in the private channel. Meshtastic and Reticulum do not talk to each other. For a message that must leave the mesh and wait in the Offline Inbox, [Ratspeak](/apps/ratspeak) on the same boards is the other way. ===== en: Before you switch on a radio ===== # Before you switch on a radio By the end of this page you will know what your device, your name and your radio give away, and what IranTalk keeps about you and what it does not. No internet ## 1. The device is evidence A LoRa device is physical evidence. Decide before you buy it who may know you have it. If you can, do not keep it, or transmit from, where you sleep. ## 2. Name and identity 1. Never put your real name in a display name or an announce. 2. If you use one device for different things, make a separate identity for each. 3. Learn how to back up and how to wipe an identity before you need to. ## 3. The radio Reticulum hides the content and the route of messages, **not** the fact that a device is transmitting on LoRa. A radio transmitter can be located. 1. Transmit little. 2. Announce rarely. 3. Put the antenna higher, so that less power reaches further. ## 4. Verification Before using any address, check the fingerprint: [Check the fingerprint and the signed list](/start/verify). A wrong fingerprint means stop. ## 5. What we know about you We have no user accounts. This table is everything our servers keep. If a court order arrives, this is what exists. | Service | What is kept | How long | |---|---|---| | Site, guides, dashboard | aggregate counts; rate-limit counters in memory only | 24 hours / not stored | | Bridge request | nothing identifying | — | | Node registry (operators outside Iran) | identity hash, addresses, region class, approval audit | until the node is retired + 90 days | | Report inbox | sender hash, timestamp, payload | 7 days / 30 days after the report is closed | | Reticulum and LXMF | notice-level logs | 7 days | | Chat hub (RRC) | warnings only: no joins, nicknames or messages; the room list (names, topics, operator hashes) | until the room is removed | | Matrix | what the homeserver needs to work; no IP logs beyond 24 hours | per retention configuration | | MQTT | no client IP logging | — | ## 6. What we cannot protect you from - A device that is already compromised. - Someone tracking your radio (section 3). - In chat rooms, the room's server sees the messages. Direct messages (Ratspeak, Sideband) are end-to-end encrypted; rooms are not. - Anonymity against someone watching the whole internet. ===== en: Check the fingerprint and the signed list ===== # Check the fingerprint and the signed list By the end of this page you will be sure the address list you hold really is ours, not someone pretending to be us. Open internet It also works without internet if you already have the files (for example from the offline pack or our NomadNet node). ## 1. Compare the fingerprint in several places 1. Write down the fingerprint on this page: (not generated yet) 2. Find the same one in at least two other places: the bottom of irantalk.com, the Telegram bot's pinned message, and the front page of our NomadNet node. 3. If even one character differs, **stop**. Use no address, and reach us another way. ## 2. Check the list's signature You need the small `minisign` program (on Linux from the package manager, on Windows and macOS from the minisign project page). 1. Put these three files in one folder: [manifest.json](/manifest/manifest.json), `manifest.json.minisig`, `irantalk.pub`. You can get all three from the site, the mirrors, or the files area of our NomadNet node. 2. Compute the public key's fingerprint and compare it with the one you wrote down (it is shown in lower case, without spaces): ``` tail -n 1 irantalk.pub | base64 -d | sha256sum | cut -c1-32 ``` On a Mac, write `shasum -a 256` instead of `sha256sum`. 3. Check the signature: ``` minisign -Vm manifest.json -p irantalk.pub ``` It must say `Signature and comment signature verified`, and on the next line `IranTalk manifest v` and a number. 4. Any other message means the list was altered or signed with another key. Do not use it. ## 3. In the apps Sideband and Ratspeak show node hashes. Compare them with [Ways to connect](/connect); they must match exactly. ===== signed files (manifest.software) ===== ===== dist/pins.toml ===== # Upstream files mirrored into the offline pack (docs/10). Reviewed by PR; nothing auto-updates. # Monthly review of versions, security releases within 72 h (docs/10 "Operations"). # # Every sha256 below was checked, on the date in `checked`, against BOTH GitHub's release # digest and upstream's own published hash or signature (named in `upstream`). Files with # `rsg` and `signer` are also checked at fetch time against upstream's Reticulum signature, # which must be made by `signer` (the RNS release signing identity, published in every # Reticulum release note). We never re-sign upstream files; their signatures travel with them.
