- یا در داشبورد: dashboard.irantalk.com/bridge. (Provide a bridge I know). این سه پرونده را کنار هم در یک پوشه بگذارید: [manifest.json](/manifest/manifest.json)، `manifest.json.minisig`، `irantalk.pub`. امضا را بررسی کنید: ``` minisign -Vm manifest.json -p irantalk.pub ``` باید بنویسد `Signature and comment signature verified` و در خط بعد `IranTalk manifest v` و یک شماره. 4. ===== en: What IranTalk is ===== # What IranTalk is By the end of this page you will know which way to use today, and what to write down before anything else. Open internet Ratspeak is a messaging app for Reticulum, on Android, Windows, macOS and Linux. The addresses this page needs are on [Ways to connect](/connect). Copy them from there and never from anywhere else. ## 1. Connect to the node 1. Install and open Ratspeak. Create an identity and give it a name that is **not your real name**. 2. Go to Settings, then Network, and add a TCP connection. 3. Enter the host and port from the "Reticulum (TCP)" row on [Ways to connect](/connect), and switch the connection on. ## 2. Offline Inbox The Offline Inbox is the LXMF propagation node: a message for someone who is not online right now waits there, and they collect it when they connect. 1. In the Offline Inbox section, set the mode to Manual. 2. Paste the "LXMF propagation node" address from [Ways to connect](/connect). ## 3. First message 1. Announce yourself, so others can see you. 2. Add a contact from their announce, or paste their LXMF address. 3. Send a message. If the recipient is offline, it waits in the Offline Inbox and arrives later. ## 4. Chat rooms 1. In Channels, tap "Manage Hub", then "Join a hub". 2. Choose the IranTalk hub from the list, or enter the "Chat hub (RRC)" address from [Ways to connect](/connect). 3. Rooms are joined by **name**: with the + button, type `irantalk` or `help`. Everyone who types the same name is in the same room. 4. Type `/list` in any room to see the registered rooms. The room's server sees room messages. Do not write in a room what must not be seen; send a direct message for that, which is end-to-end encrypted. Leave "Channel hosting" in Settings switched off. Switching it on makes your device a hub itself, and others talk through it. ===== en: Sideband: the reference Reticulum messenger ===== # Sideband: the reference Reticulum messenger By the end of this page Sideband on your phone or computer is connected to the IranTalk node, the Offline Inbox is set, and you have sent a first message. Open internet Sideband is the official messenger of the Reticulum network and understands the same addresses as Ratspeak: on Android, Linux, macOS and Windows. The addresses this page needs are on [Ways to connect](/connect). Copy them from there and from nowhere else. ## 1. Install 1. Android: get the APK from the offline pack or from the maker's release, and before installing compare its hash with the signed file list ([Check the fingerprint and the signed list](/start/verify)). Sideband is not in the app stores; installing from a file is normal. 2. Computer: the Linux, macOS or Windows build from the same release, or with Python: `pipx install sbapp`. 3. The first start creates a Reticulum identity. In Settings, give it a display name that is **not your real name**. ## 2. Connect to the node 1. From the main menu, open Connectivity. 2. Switch on "Connect via TCP". 3. Enter the host and port from the "Reticulum (TCP)" row on [Ways to connect](/connect). 4. When the internet is filtered and you have I2P, switch on "Connect via I2P" instead and enter the "Reticulum (I2P)" row. 5. Close and reopen the app so the connection comes up. After a few minutes the IranTalk node appears in the Announce Stream. ## 3. Offline Inbox The LXMF propagation node is what Ratspeak calls the Offline Inbox: a message for someone who is not online right now waits there until they come and collect it. 1. In the Announce Stream, find the propagation node whose address matches the "LXMF propagation node" row on [Ways to connect](/connect). Compare it character by character. 2. Open it and choose it as your propagation node. 3. On the Conversations screen, the Sync button fetches waiting messages from the inbox. In Settings you can make syncing automatic. ## 4. First message 1. On the Conversations screen, announce yourself so others can see you. 2. Start a new conversation and paste the other person's LXMF address, or pick them from their announce. 3. Write and send. If they are offline and the Offline Inbox is set, the message waits on the node. ## 5. By radio, without internet The same app works over Bluetooth with [a radio for your phone](/devices/companion-radio): in Connectivity, "Connect via RNode". The radio settings (frequency, bandwidth, power) must match your group's. Before you switch a radio on, read [Before you switch on a radio](/safety). Direct messages in Sideband are end-to-end encrypted; the node only carries them and cannot read them. What the node does see is on [Before you switch on a radio](/safety). ===== en: Tor Browser: bridges and mirrors ===== # Tor Browser: bridges and mirrors By the end of this page Tor Browser is connected through one of our bridges and you have opened this site and the guides over an onion mirror, with no filter in the way. Filtered internet Tor Browser is the usual browser. When the internet is filtered but not cut, Tor gets through by way of a "bridge": an entry address with no public list, so it cannot be blocked wholesale. We run our own bridges and never list them; we hand one to each person. ## 1. Install 1. From the official source, torproject.org, or the Android and desktop builds from the offline pack. Before installing, compare the file's hash with the signed file list ([check](/start/verify)). 2. Do not take it from unknown stores. A tampered Tor Browser is exactly what an attacker wants to give you. ## 2. Try without a bridge first Tor Browser has its own connection assist and, in countries that filter, offers the built-in Snowflake bridge. If that connects, it is enough. If not, next step. ## 3. Get a bridge from us One of two ways: - In Telegram, write to the IranTalk bot: `/bridge`. It gives one bridge line, the same one for you for a week. - Or on the dashboard: dashboard.irantalk.com/bridge. Your browser computes for a few seconds (to stop abuse) and gives one bridge line. Nothing about you is kept. A bridge line looks like a word (the bridge type), an address and a few more values. Copy the whole line. ## 4. Enter the bridge 1. Desktop: Settings, Connection, Bridges, "Add a bridge manually". Paste the line and connect. 2. Android: Settings, Config Bridge, "Provide a bridge I know". Paste the line. 3. If the bridge does not connect, it has probably been burned. Ask the bot for a fresh one; meanwhile Snowflake or the mirrors. ## 5. Onion mirrors Once Tor is connected, the "Onion mirror" rows on [Ways to connect](/connect) open this site, the guides and the download pack without passing through the irantalk.com domain, even when that domain is blocked. Take the address character by character from the signed list, and compare the fingerprint at the bottom of the page with your note. The bridges come in the project's next phase. Until then, the bot and the dashboard say there is no bridge and send you to Snowflake and the mirrors. Tor hides *what* you read, not that you are using Tor. With a bridge, the second is harder to see too, but it does not disappear. What is visible is on [Before you switch on a radio](/safety). ===== en: Before you switch on a radio ===== # Before you switch on a radio By the end of this page you will know what your device, your name and your radio give away, and what IranTalk keeps about you and what it does not. No internet ## 1. The device is evidence A LoRa device is physical evidence. Decide before you buy it who may know you have it. If you can, do not keep it, or transmit from, where you sleep. ## 2. Name and identity 1. Never put your real name in a display name or an announce. 2. If you use one device for different things, make a separate identity for each. 3. Learn how to back up and how to wipe an identity before you need to. ## 3. The radio Reticulum hides the content and the route of messages, **not** the fact that a device is transmitting on LoRa. A radio transmitter can be located. 1. Transmit little. 2. Announce rarely. 3. Put the antenna higher, so that less power reaches further. ## 4. Verification Before using any address, check the fingerprint: [Check the fingerprint and the signed list](/start/verify). A wrong fingerprint means stop. ## 5. What we know about you We have no user accounts. This table is everything our servers keep. If a court order arrives, this is what exists. | Service | What is kept | How long | |---|---|---| | Site, guides, dashboard | aggregate counts; rate-limit counters in memory only | 24 hours / not stored | | Bridge request | nothing identifying | — | | Node registry (operators outside Iran) | identity hash, addresses, region class, approval audit | until the node is retired + 90 days | | Report inbox | sender hash, timestamp, payload | 7 days / 30 days after the report is closed | | Reticulum and LXMF | notice-level logs | 7 days | | Chat hub (RRC) | warnings only: no joins, nicknames or messages; the room list (names, topics, operator hashes) | until the room is removed | | Matrix | what the homeserver needs to work; no IP logs beyond 24 hours | per retention configuration | | MQTT | no client IP logging | — | ## 6. What we cannot protect you from - A device that is already compromised. - Someone tracking your radio (section 3). - In chat rooms, the room's server sees the messages. Direct messages (Ratspeak, Sideband) are end-to-end encrypted; rooms are not. - Anonymity against someone watching the whole internet. ===== en: Check the fingerprint and the signed list ===== # Check the fingerprint and the signed list By the end of this page you will be sure the address list you hold really is ours, not someone pretending to be us. Open internet It also works without internet if you already have the files (for example from the offline pack or our NomadNet node). ## 1. Compare the fingerprint in several places 1. Write down the fingerprint on this page: (not generated yet) 2. Find the same one in at least two other places: the bottom of irantalk.com, the Telegram bot's pinned message, and the front page of our NomadNet node. 3. If even one character differs, **stop**. Use no address, and reach us another way. ## 2. Check the list's signature You need the small `minisign` program (on Linux from the package manager, on Windows and macOS from the minisign project page). 1. Put these three files in one folder: [manifest.json](/manifest/manifest.json), `manifest.json.minisig`, `irantalk.pub`. You can get all three from the site, the mirrors, or the files area of our NomadNet node. 2. Compute the public key's fingerprint and compare it with the one you wrote down (it is shown in lower case, without spaces): ``` tail -n 1 irantalk.pub | base64 -d | sha256sum | cut -c1-32 ``` On a Mac, write `shasum -a 256` instead of `sha256sum`. 3. Check the signature: ``` minisign -Vm manifest.json -p irantalk.pub ``` It must say `Signature and comment signature verified`, and on the next line `IranTalk manifest v` and a number. 4. Any other message means the list was altered or signed with another key. Do not use it. ## 3. In the apps Sideband and Ratspeak show node hashes. Compare them with [Ways to connect](/connect); they must match exactly.
